Smithsonian Institution National Air and Space Museum Aviation Relic Series presentation contains an illustration and an original fabric swatch from the German Fokker D-VII "U.10" biplane piloted by Lt. Heinz von Beaulieu-Marconnay. Inscribed matting outlines the aircraft's operational history and its capture on November 9, 1918, east of Verdun, France, by American First Pursuit Group aviators Capt. Alex H. McLanahan, Lt. Edward P. Curtis, and Lt. Sumner Sewall. The assembly is set under a double mat within a black frame fitted with conservation UV-protective glazing and rear hanging wire. Three National Air and Space Museum reference sheets providing aircraft specifications and Relic Series background are included.
